Job Duties:

 

  1. Conduct legal research on intellectual property (IP) matters including trademarks, patents, and copyrights.

  2. Draft and prosecute U.S. trademark applications before United State Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

  3. Draft legal opinions, memos, emails and other legal documents on IP issues.

  4. Manage records for Trademark, Patent and Litigation matters in the legal docketing system to track and ensure timely completion of tasks.

  5. Monitor due dates, detailed updates and daily docket annotations for application filings, provide timely reminders to responsible attorneys, agents and clients.

  6. Record Trademark and Patent assignments at USPTO Assignment Center.

  7. Coordinate with patent practitioners to prepare and file new applications, response documents, fees, etc. with USPTO, World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), and foreign patent offices.

  8. Analyze correspondence from USPTO, WIPO, foreign patent offices, and foreign counsels and provide suggestions on U.S. and patent cooperation treaty (PCT) patent prosecution.

  9. Generate foreign prosecution cost estimates and patent prosecution budgets.

  10. Assist with document review and document production for litigation cases at District Courts, Appeal Courts, and USPTO.

 

Position Type: Full-time                                                                                              

 

Minimum Requirements (must meet all):

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) or Master of Laws (LL. M.)

  • 24mos experience as attorney in intellectual property law practice

  • Licensed to practice law in Illinois
